What the CBC Measures

The test evaluates the three main types of cells in your blood:

Red Blood Cells (RBCs)

Carry oxygen from your lungs to the rest of your body.

Measured values:

RBC count

Hemoglobin (Hb or Hgb)

Hematocrit (Hct)

White Blood Cells (WBCs)

Part of the immune system, help fight infection.

Includes WBC count and differential (types of WBCs: neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils)

Platelets (PLTs)

Help with blood clotting and wound healing.
